The Yamaha RX-V396 is a capable amplifier capable of surround sound etc, which I have permanently connected to the computer to monitor final mixes of recorded songs in the studio, it has optical inputs straight from the TASCAM interface so can also be used to power studio monitors as well, although I generally drive my Fostex Studio monitors directly from the interface so as to avoid any colouration from the amplifier. The amplifier is currently running through two Proac Super Tablettes and a Yamaha subwoofer. I also have surround sound system hooked up but this is something I very rarely use. Overall the amplifier seems well built with a quality sound.
I am a final year student of the RMIT Bachelor of Music Industry Course. As part of my major project I have created a home studio with which to record my own music. This website chronicles the process that was followed and the items used within the studio.
