I love AKG microphones and I find that quite a few slip under the radar and can be picked up cheaply on Ebay. This baby cost me $48 dollars and looks like it just left the factory.
In my opinion, most AKG dynamics are superior to the venerable Shure SM 58 that everyone is using, however, a word of warning. In recent years AKG have released a confusing spate of microphones; some of these are very low end and rather "merde" as the French would say.
The article below is my bible when it comes to bidding on unknown AKG microphones (and my sincere thanks for Richard Monroe for his work posting this) and will help negotiate the maze of microphones and what is likely to be worth buying.
This is a very bright microphone I don't use it a lot for my vocals but is great to mike a cabinet or for the right voice and it will almost certainly outlast me.
